Confirm Tax Information for Your Books

July 21, 2021

Apple uses multiple inputs to calculate tax on customer transactions in accordance with local laws and regulations. In iTunes Connect, you can now assign tax information to your titles to be used in all territories where Apple administers taxation. Information that may impact tax treatment for your book includes whether your book has an ISBN, ISSN, or ECN, is a college textbook also sold by a bookstore, consists primarily of aerial photographs or maps, or includes mostly plans or drawings for industrial or engineering purposes.

If you believe your books require different tax treatment, visit the Tax Information page within the My Books module in iTunes Connect to provide additional information about your title, and updates will be applied to future transactions. Adjust these settings at any time as the nature of your content or tax legislation changes.

Your tax information selections may result in changes to your proceeds, as proceeds are calculated based on the price of your book, minus any applicable taxes.

If you choose not to make any changes, your books will continue to be taxed at the same rate used today. The first full month after you configure your settings, you can view the new Transaction Tax report in the Payments and Financial Reports section in iTunes Connect.
