Music Analytics API Access and Audience Segmentation
We’re excited to announce the Music Analytics API Engagement and Overlap endpoints are now available to all Apple Music label partners. Alongside this rollout, we’re introducing Audience Segmentation, a powerful new way to understand your listeners.
The Music Analytics API for everyone
Whether you’re an emerging independent or an established major, you now have access to the same robust analytics capabilities to evaluate your content’s performance.
- Seamless data access: Bring plays, unique listener counts, and device breakdowns directly into your existing pipelines. No more waiting for scheduled flat file exports.
-
Deep flexibility: Use a full range of dimensions and filters to build targeted queries across storefronts, time periods, and device types.
-
Custom integrations: Build automated workflows and bespoke reporting tools tailored to how your team works, using the API as your foundational data layer.
Introducing audience segmentation
Understanding what your audience is listening to is just as important as knowing how much they listen. This new feature lets you partition your audience by engagement behavior through a single, intuitive API call.
- Listener cohorts: Divide your audience into exact percentiles—such as your top 20% or bottom 40% of listeners. It’s the perfect tool for defining cohorts for targeted marketing, early access programs, and fan engagement.
-
Play width insights: Group your audience into logarithmically scaled play-count ranges to see exactly how listening is distributed. Easily identify whether a track is drawing casual listeners, superfans, or both.
-
Precision targeting: Combine segmentation with
group_byandfilter_byto analyze sub-populations—like listeners in a specific storefront or during a specific week—with absolute precision.
