Apple Music Style Guide update
With our recent requirement to include credit details on all new releases, complete and accurate metadata is more important than ever before. Review important updates we’ve made to the Apple Music Style Guide.
Notable changes include the following new policies:
- 2.18. Credits Accuracy. You must supply complete and accurate credits. If credits are not yet known or participants are anonymous, omit the credit entirely. Do not submit placeholder credits such as TBD or Pending.
- 2.19. Sampled Artists. If a track includes pre-existing audio (i.e., a sample, stem, or production beat), that is free or can be borrowed, purchased, licensed, or leased by anyone, do not credit the artist from that audio as a Primary or Featured artist. Credit that audio with the Sampled Artist role.
- 8.10. Previews. Music video preview playback must be set at a timestamp that excludes any objectionable content, including but not limited to nudity.
Be sure to review What’s New in This Version for a complete list of changes made this year to the Apple Music Style Guide.
