Languages and Localization Reminder

August 8, 2019

The language of delivered metadata must be correctly identified for all deliveries.

iTunes Producer users can select the appropriate language from the language drop-down menu during delivery. Transporter users should state the appropriate language ISO code in the <language> tag of XML being delivered. If a playlist has tracks in multiple languages, use the most used language for metadata language.

For better display and discoverability you can provide metadata localizations for Artist and Title, at the playlist and track level. If an alternate title in other languages exists for the content, it should be provided instead of a translation of the original title.

See Localizations in iTunes Store Music Style Guide for further information.
