Our editorial team determines which releases get featured on Apple Music and the iTunes Store. If you are selected for a promotion, you will be contacted by Apple.

Aside from meeting our standards and delivery guidelines, marketing is essential to getting your artist’s music in front of loyal fans and new listeners. Use the following resources to promote your releases on Apple Music and the iTunes Store:


Apple Music Identity Guidelines

Before you get started on your marketing activities, review the Apple Music Identity Guidelines to ensure that your promotional campaigns are clear and effective. The guidelines outline the requirements for the following:

Apple Music Marketing Tools

Gathering assets for an upcoming release can be complicated. Apple Music Marketing Tools provides custom links and assets to make marketing a release that much easier.

When you enter the song, album, or artist name, you’ll go to a Promote Music page displaying your releases. After clicking on what you would like to promote, such as a song or playlist, you’ll have the option to download badges and icons, generate links, and create embeddable players, QR codes, and Twitter Audio Cards. Assets are available in multiple languages so you can connect with audiences around the globe.

How to download a badge or icon

  1. Go to Apple Music Marketing Tools.
  2. Search for the song or album you’d like to promote.
  3. If applicable, add your affiliate token on the content page.
  4. Scroll to the Badges and Lockups section.
  5. Choose a color and language for the Listen on Apple Music badge.
  6. Click Download Badges to save and add to your marketing materials, such as press photos, album art, and more.
  7. Click Copy Embed to copy the URL to your clipboard and add to your website.

How to create an embeddable player

  1. Go to Apple Music Marketing Tools.
  2. Search for the song, album, or playlist you want to embed.
  3. If applicable, add your affiliate token on the content page.
  4. Scroll to the Preview Player section and edit to your desired height and width.
  5. Click Copy Embed to copy the embed code to your clipboard and add to your website.

How to create a Twitter Audio Card

  1. Go to Apple Music Marketing Tools.
  2. Search for the song you want to post.
  3. If applicable, add your affiliate token on the content page.
  4. Scroll to the Tweet a 30-second Preview Track section.
  5. Click Copy Link and paste it within a Tweet, or Tweet the link out directly.
  6. To preview your Tweet before posting, select Preview Card within the Toolbox and paste the provided URL.

Performance Partner Program

With the Performance Partner Program, you can add links to Apple Music content on your website or app and earn commissions on qualifying Apple Music memberships generated from those links.

We are currently only accepting limited partners who can drive significant volume and quality performance that meets Apple brand guidelines.

Baseline requirements include:

  • Willingness to work on a cost-per-acquisition basis; there’s no payout on cost-per-click or any other payment method.
  • Proof of a working business relationship with Apple Services.
  • Ability to respond to Apple within 48 hours.
  • Compliance with Apple Services Partner Program Terms and Conditions.

Promotional links

You can link your asset to Apple Music or the iTunes Store and share via the Link Builder tool or by following these steps:

Apple Music (iOS)

  1. Choose the song or album you want to share by clicking and holding the song until the menu options appear.
  2. Select Share Song from the menu.
  3. Choose how you want to share the song (Messages, social media, email, etc.).

Apple Music (Desktop)

  1. Choose the song or album you want to share by clicking the ellipsis.
  2. Select Share from the menu.
  3. Choose how you want to share the song (Messages, email, or copy a link to use on social media).

The iTunes Store

  1. Click the arrow next to the album or song.
  2. Choose Copy Link from the menu.
  3. Choose how you want to share the song (Messages, social media, email, etc.).

Links to albums and songs may vary by country or region. Be sure to use the correct Apple Music and iTunes Store links for the users in that country or region.
