Apple Books promo codes
Promo codes allow people to download your book from Apple Books at no cost. These codes can be distributed to bloggers, reviewers, and other PR or media contacts. This gives readers the opportunity to read your book and leave a rating or review — even while the book is a pre-order.
Every book has 250 promo codes. The Promo Codes button displays only for books with a status of On Store or Ready for Store in at least one country or region. And promo codes can only be redeemed in countries or regions where the book is available for sale.
Promo codes expire four weeks after they’re requested, so it’s important that the book file be in our system and that you distribute the codes as quickly as possible to the intended readers.
If you don’t see a Promo Codes button in your account, make sure the account is tied to the latest agreement. The button will only display for books with a status of On Store or Ready for Store in at least one country or region, and only users with the Admin, Legal, or Sales roles can request promo codes.
How to request promo codes
- On the book detail page, click Promo Codes (found on the right side of the page).
- Enter the number of promo codes you want to request and click Continue.
- When the promo codes are ready, you receive an email with additional details.
How to distribute promo codes
- Within the email you receive, click Download.
- Send the promo code(s) to your recipient(s).
Note that a promo code can be used only once, so it’s highly recommended not to list a promo code on social media — only the first person to redeem it gets the book for free.
