Album and track changes in iTunes Connect
Changes like Artist IDs, UPC modifications, and rights and pricing can be made at either the track or album level. These types of modifications aren’t subject to restrictions set by the Apple Music Style Guide.
Review release details
Anytime after delivery you can look up music details such as metadata, territory rights, pricing, and cover art in iTunes Connect.
- In iTunes Connect, click My Music.
- Search for your album.
- Click on the magnifying glass icon in the View Album Details column.
Details include delivered metadata, cover art, and rights and pricing information for albums and songs delivered to Apple Music and the iTunes Store.
Album changes
Update Artist ID throughout release
Edits made to an Artist Apple ID at the album or track level will apply to all instances in which an artist displays.
- In iTunes Connect, click My Music.
- Search for your album.
- From the search results, click the magnifying glass icon in the View Album Details column.
- In the Album Summary section, click Edit Metadata.
- Click “+Artist” to add an Artist ID.
- Click the red icon to remove an incorrect Artist ID.
Update album rights and pricing
- In iTunes Connect, click My Music.
- Search for the album you want to update. Multiple albums can be located by entering a comma-separated string of UPCs. A comma-separated string looks like this: “123456789, 123456789, 123456789,” and so on.
- From the search results, click the magnifying glass icon in the View Album Details column.
- On the Album Details page, click “show” to display album rights and pricing.
- Click Edit Rights and Pricing.
- Make the desired changes.
- Confirm that your changes are correct, then click Save.
Your album-level changes will reflect immediately on iTunes Connect and within 24 hours on the iTunes Store and Apple Music, unless otherwise scheduled. Changes to default track wholesale price tier changes can take up to a week to appear in Apple Music and the iTunes Store.
Remove an album
- In iTunes Connect, click My Music.
- Search for the album you want to remove.
- From the search results, click the magnifying glass icon in the View Album Details column.
- On the Album Details page, click “show” to display album rights and pricing.
- Click Edit Rights and Pricing.
- Uncheck all assigned countries and regions in the Cleared for Sale or Cleared for Apple Music columns.
- Click Save.
The album will no longer be visible in Apple Music or available for purchase in the iTunes Store.
UPC modifications
If you used a UPC that was intended for another album or an incorrect UPC, you need to remove the album from Apple Music and the iTunes Store and resend the album with its correct UPC. We will not delete a UPC from the iTunes Store database.
Track-level changes
Update track rights and pricing
- In iTunes Connect, click My Music.
- Search for the album with the track you want to update.
- From the search results, click on the magnifying glass icon in the View Album Details column.
- In the Album Summary section, click Details for the track you would like to edit.
- Select Edit Track Rights.
- Make the desired changes.
- Confirm that your changes are correct, then click Save.
Track changes will reflect immediately on iTunes Connect and within 24 hours on Apple Music and the iTunes Store, unless otherwise scheduled.
Update original release date
To edit the original release date for individual tracks:
- In iTunes Connect, click My Music.
- Search for the album you want to update.
- From the search results, click on the magnifying glass icon in the View Album Details column.
- In the Album Summary section, click Edit Metadata.
- Scroll to the desired track and modify the Original Release Date.
This will initiate a metadata ticket and a review process. The Original Release Date differs from the Start Date, which is determined by rights and pricing.
Update track-level genre
- In iTunes Connect, click My Music.
- Search for the album with the track you want to update.
- From the search results, click on the magnifying glass icon in the View Album Details column.
- In the Album Summary section, click Edit Metadata.
- Scroll to the track you want to update.
- Select a genre from the menu.
- A message displays gives the option to cascade the genre changes to the entire album if desired.
- Click “Save and Submit.”
